LIDTONE · PRIVACY
Lidtone Privacy Policy
Lidtone is a small app that reads your MacBook's lid angle and makes sounds. No account, no license, no analytics; everything it reads stays on this Mac.
LAST UPDATED / 27 OCTOBER 2026What it reads
None of this needs a permission:
- The lid angle sensor: how far the lid is open and how fast it moves. These values are used only in the moment to play the sound, and never kept.
- Whether the Mac or its display is asleep, or the lid is closed with an external display: the sensor is not read then.
Your own sound
If you add your own opening sound, the file you pick is trimmed and levelled on this Mac and saved in ~/Library/Application Support/Lidtone/Sounds. It is never sent anywhere, and you can remove it in Settings at any time.
What it keeps
Your settings, such as the mode, volume and sensitivity, are in macOS's preferences file.
Network connections
Lidtone has no server, no account and no analytics. It goes online only to check for updates: once a day, Sparkle looks at the release list on eren.click, which sends standard request details such as your IP address and the app's version.
The “Support” link opens Polar's payment page in your browser. Payment happens there, and nothing comes back to the app.
